Many will remenber this was the area for catching roach, canal fishing. They lay on the top and sun bathed waiting for you
I believe it was due to the fact that Storeys, which is the building on the right, discharged into the canal and the fish loved it.
Not only roach buut nice bream, perch etc and they were large fish as food was no object.
Sometimes you could not tempt them they were too full up.
