Holidays In Lancing

A Memory of Lancing.

When I was a child we had our annual holiday in Lancing. Mum, Dad and Grandad with my sister and I travelled from Reigate, in Surrey. I remember a kind friend who gave us a lift down until we had our own car to travel in - a black Ford Poplar. We stayed in Happy Days Caravan Park across the road and I remember playing on these boat swings on our way to and from the beach. I have fond memories of those early holidays in Lancing. In 1965 I would have been 10 years old so it was probably the last Lancing holiday. When Grandad died, we began to explore other holiday locations. Does anyone have any photos or memories of the Happy Days Caravan Park in Lancing?

Hi, Sue, I did not stay at Happy days Lancing but my gran had a bungalow in Lancing and I use to go on the beach most days in the Summer with my Dachshund a standard dog near the Mermaid cafe.No dog problems in those days 1962-1968. On the day of the World cup final 1966, I was coming off the beach, as usual, and a group of girls were cycling from the Farmers pub junction on the Brighton road shouting we had won we had won. Having no transistor radio the dog and I celebrated on the walk back to my grans.
Best regards
