Why are these different? All 300,000 photographs in The Frith Collection have been scanned, but as the photos were taken over a 110 year period on a wide range of glass & film negatives, using different photographic processes, every image has to be checked and optimised, before we make a print for a customer.

Family History In Langwith
I have a photograph taken about 1950 of myself about 4 years old on a three wheeler bicycle with my parents next to the garage and opposite the gate hotel.I remember having my haircut at the shop at the bottom of pit Hill. Can't remember the name.my grandad Daniel worked at the sewage works at the bottom of pit Hill also have a photo of him with a work gang laying the footings for the Devonshire drive estate.don't know when this would have been.

Childhood In Langwith
I was born in 1946 at 66 Devonshire drive langwith to my parents Tom and my ra copestake.I lives there til I was 7years old with them and my brother David. My auntie and uncle Harry and Ethel Darrell lived on Hardwick street and my others Daniel and mable copestake on Hartington street. A Child In Langwith
I was born in Langwith in February 1930 at 8 Moorfield Lane. I went to Whaley Thornes infants school and started in the reception class in 1935, the teacher being Miss Smith, who had taught not only some of the pupil's parents but also some of their grandparents. My One Year In Langwith
We moved to Langwith in 1952 and lived on Devonshire Drive - number 97 I think. I was only 3 at the time and we were only there for a year but my mother had a fish and chip shop in the front room. A man called grandad Carling used to help my mother by peeling potatoes for the chips. I think it was only open Thursdays and Fridays. Can anyone remember?

All our photos are printed as optimised versions of their originals, this process can take anything from 15 minutes to several hours. This ensures that the product you get shows the true quality that Frith photos are renowned for.

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
