Lavenham, Water Street c.1955

More about this scene
The stream which rises at Lavenham Hall used to flow here, but now it runs in a brick culvert underground. De Vere House, on the right, which was largely dismantled and rebuilt in the 1920s, has gables, jetties, oriel windows and brick nogging. The de Vere star and boar are carved in the spandrels of the doorway. Beyond are three rows of once jettied cottages.
