Suntrap School. 1956 To 1961.

A Memory of Ledbury.

My name is Terry Hendy. I attended Suntrap school from 1956to 1961. I have very happy memories of the school and although away from home I was very well looked after and fed well. 1 saw the photo of Mr Brooks and Mr Campbell who I remember well and Mr Campbell was the cub and scout master. I was a member of both. The scout hut was the old lifeboat house on the beach. Someone mentioned a boy from Tottenham who I believe was Brian Reeve. I was envious of the fact that he lived in White Hart Lane. I remember John Payne from Brighton and we used to play football in the playground. Mr Dormer and Mr Creedy were the janitors. Some boys I remember were ( maybe not got the first name right) Graham Seaward Ian Patterson Brian Atkinson Brian Jarvis. I also remember Andre Zelanovski who refused to address the dorm masters as Mr because the only ever referred to him by his surname. ! I have very fond memories of Mrs Allen who taught English and helped us compile our weekly letters to home. I also rember Mr Coombes and Mr Wood. Mr wood taught woodwork funnily enough. It would be nice to know that the people I remember are still ok but I do know there were a couple of boys that passed away. We were not allowed any where near the girls except at meal times and on the coaches going to and from school at term time. We thought that girls were some sort of alien species! Best wishes to all.
