More about this scene
There are no medieval churches in central Leeds, though several date from the 17th and 18th centuries. John Fowler & Co. built roadrollers, traction engines and farm machinery, and there were a number of companies producing castings of various sorts. There were bleaching works, flax mills, leather factories and chemical plants. Leeds also became the leading centre for the manufacture of ready-to-wear clothes.
