Idyllic Holidays Pre Ww2

A Memory of Littleham.

We camped at Littleham, with only my immediate family in the farmer's field. We collected straw from the farmer, and stuffed our palliasses for beds. The straw was returned to the barn when we left.
Each morning my sister and I went up to the farmhouse to collect milk. Mother cooked "proper" meals on a petrol cooker and a Primus stove. She put the almost cooked meal into a hay-box to keep hot as it finished cooking, ready for our return from the beach.
I was young enough to sit in an old shallow sink which was set under the spring. This stream continues to flow down to the Sandy Bay.
I remember my Grandmother, who was 80, taking us for a walk on the cliff path to Budleigh Salterton, while my Mother had a rest!
I am hoping that someone else may remember this farm which was the land behind Sandy Bay.
