Hi Michael. I have a little information that may help. Alfred was born at Mount Hermon on the Lizard on 24 March 1898. Mount Hermon was a farm and the farmhouse still exists. He was christened in Mount Hermon on 27 July 1898. This suggests he may have been sickly and was therefore christened at home rather than in the church. He clearly went on, however, to lead a full and healthy life. Alfred fought in the First World Ward with the 2nd Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. He was a Private - No 34008. He then went on to become the postman for the Lizard village. He and his family lived at 2 Kynance Terrace, the Lizard, near to where the old Post Office was (which is now a fish & chip shop).
Alfred's parents were Richard Bosustow and Mary Jane Johns. Richard was born at The Rectory in Ruan Major in 1855. By 1891 he was farming at Mount Hermon and continued to live there until his death in 1942. He is buried at Ruan Minor. He seems to have been a farmer all his life but was also a serpentine turner and appeared in Kelly's 1910 Directory of Cornwall as a Serpentine Worker at Mount Hermon, The Lizard. He had a serpentine shop across the main road from Mount Hermon. It had a fireplace at one end and "Dick" as he was known used it for a lathe house for working serpentine.
Mary Jane Johns was born in Wendron in 1852 and died at Mount Hermon in 1934. She is buried at Ruan Major.
Richard's parents were William Bosustow and Jane Johns (no near relation of Richard's wife), who are also my great-great grandparents. William was born about 1814 and farmed Mount Hermon from at least 1841. He died in 1848 and is buried at Ruan Minor. Jane Johns was born in 1813 in Ruan Minor and died in 1885. She too is buried at Ruan Minor.
The Bosustows are a well established Cornish family and their line can be traced back to St. Buryan and Sennen to the 1300s.
Hope this is of use.

Hi John
Thank you for your information on my Grandfather Alfred Bosustow.
I have some information on his life and family through a cousin Richard Herring his mother Heather she is 96 .Heather is the daughter of Helen Bosustow which was one of Alfreds sister . I cannot find anything of Alfreds resting place or his second wife Eva. I have contacted 3 funeral houses in Cornwall with no luck or information .I been back back to Cornwall to visit on several occasions and visited a few grave yards and found some Bosustow’s graves. I think the only way I may find out is to contact Redruths new historical information centre on Cornwalls births deaths and marriages . I thought there may have been a glimmer of hope that someone maybe have some knowledge in village of The Lizard . Thank you once again John
King Regards
