More about this scene
The post-box is still on the side of the house, but the post office closed on 8 July 1969. The last person to draw his pension there on 4 July was W J Lewis, a farmer. From then on he was faced with a journey to Llanfihangel Crucorney Post Office. Mrs Powell, the Llanthony post- mistress, had a strawberries and cream party to mark the closure.
