More about this scene
This view looks from the Mansion House balcony to the Bank of England. At this time a Bank Piquet, soldiers from the Brigade of Guards, marched here every evening from Wellington Barracks to stand guard. On the right is a large notice announcing the new Central Line station, which opened in 1900.
