More about this scene
The photographer is standing on the first floor of Swan & Edgar's department store. The Eros statue was erected in 1893 in memory of the philanthropic Lord Shaftesbury. Behind is the London Pavilion, a restaurant with entertainment, which opened in 1885. The building in the centre, on the far corner of Haymarket, still stands.
