Traffic was still so light in the 1920s that the Mall was not treated as a major artery of even a short cut. Admiralty Arch at the far end of the Mall was completed in 1910 as part of the Victoria Memorial scheme; Sir Aston Webb was the architect of both the arch and the memorial. The building is linked on the right to Admiralty House.
