More about this scene
This coaching inn, which dated from Tudor times, was rebuilt in 1676 following the Great Fire of London in 1666. Warwick Lane is near St Paul's Cathedral, which could be seen from the upstairs windows of this inn. In the 1700s coaches left here for Chester, Highworth in Wiltshire and Wendover in Buckinghamshire. This photograph was taken just before the inn's demolition.
