London, Waterloo Bridge c.1890

More about this scene
Except for the dome of St Paul's Cathedral in the distance, this scene is very different today. John Rennie's gorgeous bridge, built in 1817 as both river crossing and monument to the battle, was demolished in 1923. The area around the shot tower on the right became the site of the Festival of Britain in 1951. The river traffic is also history.
