Home For Me And My Two Sisters
A Memory of Long Hanborough.
I believed I went to the children's home in 1945 although records show the opening in 1950?
I went with my sisters Wendy and Pauline.
Pauline was adopted 'seperately' Wendy and I were fostered by a 'Mrs. Moore' from Brackley, Northants.
Why? I will never understand because she had no love or affinity for either of us and my elder sister could not escape until she was 16, I waited until I was 15 and had decided to stop the cruelty and put an end to any violence on my person. Mr. Moore was a friendly and pleasant person but could not stand up to his wife, although he was kind to us when she was at work or away.
I loved animals and managed to find a position as a groom in a point to point stables in Swanbourne in Buckinghamshire.
I then took control of my life
My birth certificate shows my father as Thomas Charles Edwards, my husband obtained his war records and was devistated to find he died 18months before I was born? My husband has tried for years to find details of my natural father without success, he assumed I was one of the 'American contingent' and was nonplussed when he purchased my dna records 98.6% English ( to be fair he capitulated when he was 52% british although he has links to the John Wesley family. As Sue's husband I am mortified I cannot trace her ancestry at least through her grandad William FEW who has amazing links into the American History BUT I cannot prove it, if you can please help.
