Ludgershall Lads
A Memory of Ludgershall.
Does Ludgershall still have a "Ludgershall Lads" football team. As a teenager I played for them, that was in 1951 to 1953 or thereabouts. The manager's name was Sid though I've forgotten his surname and one year Ted Bates, Southampton's manager, visited us to give us tips. The first year we played we were a disaster losing 22 to nothing on the odd occasion but we must have improved because in my 3rd year we were 2nd in the league and won the Andover Charity Cup at the Andover's Walled Meadow. Mum and Dad were so proud. I also played for the Kangaroo Club that subsequently became "The Old Castle Club".
