More about this scene
The village is noted for its granite quarries, which furnished stone for the Duke of Wellington's sarcophagus in St Paul's Cathedral. All about are rocky fields and wooded slopes, pitted with gigantic granite boulders. The cottages in the winding street are solidly built of local granite.
