More about this scene

Lydford was once an important halt on the South Western Railway, which skirted round Dartmoor to the north and passed through Tavistock and Bere Alston on its way to Plymouth. The line was eventually completed in 1890 - 41 years after the rival South Devon Railway reached Plymouth.
