More about this scene
Such a pretty name, such an ugly town. Linking Madeley and Ironbridge, this area grew rapidly in the 18th century as local industry expanded. The most famous iron furnace here was the 'Bedlam Furnace': with its flames and smoke, and noise and grime, it must have seemed like the very gates of Hell.
