More about this scene
The Norman tower and later spire of St Michael's parish church watches over the busy Yorkersgate. The offices of the local newspaper, The Malton Gazette, are on the left, and a newspaper van is parked opposite. Malton stands at the junction of roads above the Derwent Valley south of the North York Moors, and has been an important market centre since the Middle Ages.
