More about this scene
The High Street, this time looking east towards the (then) new Town Hall. The church building in the distance is St Mary's, whose north wall still carries scars said to be of a lesser civil war skirmish fought here. During restoration work on the building, a Roman statue to the goddess Fortuna was discovered.
