Percy Plant (Pop) Swimming I Nstructor Dormanstown
A Memory of Marske-By-The-Sea.
Hello
Does anyone remember my lovely grandfather, Percy Plant, he lived in Dormanstown, a huge strapping fine man. He was the swimming instructor at Redcar Baths, he was also a tourist attraction on the pier and Redcar beach area, known also for his diving.
I grew up in Dormanstown, in parts in the Wilton Avenue area, Clara Lady Dorman School, teacher, Mrs Tweedle. I have very strong memories of her teachings, loved that year at school, the Christmas parties, lantern making, school dinners and most important being able to occupy the seat in lessons nearest the window so that I could view my grandparent's home, 4 Wilton Avenue, Nelly and Percy Plant. My grandfather would often been seen walking with his boxer dog by his side, taught many people to swim at redar baths, a lovely and very missed man xxxx any photos of that time would be appreciated. sue.francis@kreativetalent.tv
