The Bakery

A Memory of Milford on Sea.

Who else remembers the smell of that freshly baked bread coming from the bakery here, on the very left of the photo (where the chimneys are)? As I child in the 1960s I would volunteer to go to the bakers and rush home with that hot, freshly baked loaf and devour both crusts.

Hello Rex. Yes, I remember Berry's Bakery☺ Especially my Dad bringing home freshly cooked "Lardy Cake" after his night shift at Wellworthy's in Lymington. I used to have that for breakfast with lashings of real butter, mmmmmmmmm I can taste it now.
I also recall John Berry & Mike delivering the fresh bread around the village. The bread crust was also my favourite either with butter or "beef dripping" left from the Sunday lunch.
