This photograph is included partly to show how farming has changed in the last half century. In 1955 Frith's photographer could still find farm horses at work, but they were becoming sufficiently uncommon to warrant a photograph. This scene near Milford shows a fertiliser spreader being hauled by a single horse.

My mother was in the WAAFs during WWII. She met my father (an American G.I.) at a dance in Henley. They married in 1944 and after the war, my mother traveled to the United States as a war bride. I was born in Nebraska in April, 1948. In 1951, my mother was aching to visit her parents in England. My father managed to raise enough money for my mother, my sister and I to sail to England in the Spring of 1951. ...see more
More likely to be the White Lion, on the right of the picture! Certainly not Milford House 1924!
My mum and dad worked in Milford Chest Hospital in the 50's where they met and married in 1955, and they are still together.
