More about this scene
Moving on to the far north-east corner of the county, we reach Misterton. It is situated in the drained fenland and carrs (copses) to the west of the River Trent, through which meanders the River Idle on its way to meet the river at West Stockwith. A long straggling village on a (very) low ridge, Misterton has its medieval parish church at its north end, with a fine stained glass window by John Piper in the Lady Chapel added in 1965. The house with the butcher's shop on the right was demolished in the 1960s for road improvement.
