More about this scene
At the end of Soss Lane, beyond the railway line, are two former pump houses with tall chimneys; their steam-powered beam engines are situated on the Mother Drain which runs parallel to the River Idle to join the River Trent near West Stockwith. The Mother Drain is part of the drainage system for the carrs or fens west of Misterton, and one of the pump houses is dated 1828. Long derelict, they have recently been restored and converted into dwellings - one is named The Pump House. This view looks west along the River Idle.
