More about this scene
This view looks down towards the Cross from the A46 Bath Road. At the bottom of the slope is the clock tower and George Street, in which is found one of the largest kettles in the country. It hangs some five metres above street level and has been there for about 80 years, originally as an advertisement for the Copper Kettle Tea Shop. Said to hold 80 gallons, the kettle is reckoned to weigh over one hundredweight.
