More about this scene
Nazeing's name means 'settlers on the projection of land'. It sits above the River Lea, and is a world of arable fields and market-garden glasshouses. The Red Lion, in the hamlet of Middle Street, was rebuilt in 1888; it is now a residence called the White House. The car outside is a pre-war Morris.
