New Addington Memories
A Memory of New Addington.
I remember as a young boy Fairchildes school , we lived in Castle Hill Crescent and walked in all weathers to school. I remember Mr. Hedges, Mr. Breed, Mr. Watson, Mr. Fuller, Mr. Rutter Mr. Morgan, Mr. Best, Mr. Trinder, Mr. Smith, and Miss Davis plus of course Mr. Jones. I can't say it was the happiest days of my life. We used to live at 303 Castle Hill Crescent before moving to 411 Lodge Lane. I knew a few people but like everything as time goes by you lose track, I can remember the Paynes, Lawrence Peddy, Ian Coughlin , the Waywells, J. Cash, Douglas Shulver, Chrissy Thomas, Keith Bromham, Terrence Facey, Robert Nicholls, and Norman Maciver who lived at Blenheim Park Crescent South Croydon and moved to Hereford with his parents, they were very good to me and I would like to meet Norman again if anybody has information . Just thought of John Hester who lived in a prefab behind me. I visited the area a few years ago and the road names had changed, it was so different there.

worked in Croydon for a while after I left school in 1956 before moving away from the area
Thanks for your comment, although I never remember the girls at the time I probably passed yo at sometime. I know they segregated the girls for a few years. I moved away from New Addington in around 1963, I used to go to Thornton Heath a lot as I helped a milkman from United Dairies who did Beulah ! Moffat and Livingstone Roads amongst others , the depot was at Bensham Lane and I didn't enjoy the early starts. Since then I have travelled a lot ending up in Bournemouth the last 20 years, a big change. I never thought I would own a property as it was all about rental in the 50s. We used to live in a prefab for years and it was jolly cold in the winter, no central heating then.
Take Care, Peter
You are one person who I tried to find for a few years as I wondered how life was for you, lots happened in my life , I remember your mum who didn't like the Sun much and your dad who was a keen gardener always rushed out if he heard a horse go by ,looking if they had left him anything useful to put on his garden. If I could speak to you on the phone it would be nice, I would like You're phone number . I live in Bournemouth now.

I may recall you as I left in 1958 as well, I joined the army at 17 and spent about 10 years in mostly with the Army Air Corps as Aircrew/ observer on Helicopters and Light Aircraft , good times , I kept up my interest in flying when I bought a house in California. Had a neighbour who was a Navigator on bombers and took his PPL at 60 so had a Mooney 4 seater , always got trips early morning and was dual controlled so had fun. I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years and various other countries. Interesting you were in the fleet Air Arm . Hope you're well and happy. I've been fit into late 50s but not later in life but you keep going.
Take Care, Peter
