Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

The ferry Leatown can be seen tied up alongside the pier, while the Royal Iris waits to dock. The Iris and her sister ship, the Daffodil, entered ferry service in 1906. During the First World War they saw action as troop carriers in the raid on Zeebrugge, and after the war the prefix Royal was added in recognition of their wartime service. In later years, both vessels were sold and became cruise ships. The Royal Iris worked the Mersey and Liverpool Bay waters until the 1990s, when she went to Cardiff and was decommissioned.

Good Old Days
Good old days. My husband, used to go to the Tower Ballroom and the Empress Club on Saturday nights. Anybody have any memories of the Tower in those days? Although I cannot remember any names from those days, if anybody went to the Empress or Tower - would love to hear from you.

The Fairground And Tower
I remember well the fairground with all the rides that did their best to make you sick after the hotdogs and the candyfloss. Who got a kiss in the ghost train or at least a cuddle from their girlfriend? Everywhere the smell of food and the constant music playing so loud. I remember the 'Tower' which was destroyed by fire in 1969.

Innocent Happiness
I was born just after the Second World War and like many people came from a fairly poor working class background. I was, however, blessed in many areas of my life and one of them was having an aunt who lived at 8 Hamilon Square, Birkenhead. It was an insurance building and she lived in the basement and was employed as a cleaner. We visited her every year and explored the Wirral. They were such happy times. ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
