New Haw Golden Era

A Memory of New Haw.

I lived in New Haw in Selbourne Avenue and went to New Haw Primary and Junior School and Fullbrook County Secondary from 1951 - 1961. I then went to Brookland Tech. I was married in All Saints Church in 1969. I have many treasured memories of growing up in New Haw and would love to hear from the numerous friends who shared those days with me. I moved away in 1969 and to this day can still recall the "growing up" era in New Haw.
My father worked at Vickers Armstrong in Weybridge and I can remember the wonderful Christmas parties in the hangers at Brooklands. Sitting at long benches covered in crepe paper tablecloths and waxed plates and little pudding dishes filled with bright red jelly. There would be a Punch and Judy Show or a Clown to entertain us, and we always went home with a little bag of sweets and a piece of cake, great times.
I can also remember walking across "the fields" to Ottershaw and playing in the river Bourne and doing a bit of scrumping before sauntering on home at teatime.
Great times!
