Wilbrighton Hall, Staffordshire
A Memory of Newburn.
I have written about my family in a series of books called the Douglas Trilogy; www.mytruthliesintheruins.com
I visited Wilbrighton Hall about 15 years ago and took many pictures that I would gladly share. Acquired in 1305 by Sir William Bagot with his new wife Eleanora of Lovaine, widow of William de Ferres, and widow of Sir William Douglas of Scotland who died a prisoner 6 November 1298 in the White Tower, Edward I's prisoner. Eleanora outlived her third husband named William and held the manor until her death in 1328. Her son, Sir Archibald Douglas, Regent of Scotland inherited her lands but was disinherited by Edward III when he became Regent. Sir Archibald Douglas was also the half brother of Sir James Douglas, the Black Douglas, the Good Sir James to the Scots.
