More about this scene
In this contrived but pleasing photograph, local fishermen pose for the photographer. The artists Stanhope Forbes and Walter Langley settled here in the 1880s to paint the harbour and its fishermen. The town became famous for its artistic community, the celebrated Newlyn School of landscape painters.
