A Selection of Memories from Newton Aycliffe

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Newton Aycliffe

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I started school here in the early 1960s. My mother Beatrice Warrener was a teacher here. I think the head mistress was named Mrs. Gash? I don't have many memories, but I did get into trouble , especially when my mum was on playground duty. We lived at Warburton Close then.
Interesting to read Moira’s memory of Newton Aycliffe. I recognised your name straight away as my mother often talked about her McCormick nephews and nieces. I too spent a lot of time with Aunty Celia and Uncle Fred but I am Terence’s cousin not his son! My mother was Milly. Robin Lenaghan

My Father Sid worked for Tallent Engineering. If anybody can.relate to any of this or have school photos etc I would love to here from you. TONY deere
Mu aunt Cecilia Hood lived in Clarence Chare Newton Aycliffe. My Uncle was involved in building the clock in the centre of Newton Aycliffe. My cousin Terence Parnaby and his son Robin also lived in Aycliffe. As a young child I adored going to stay there. The people were so friendly. I remember going into Darlington to a store called Binns and I remember being taken to places like Whitley Bay, and High Force waterfall. Happy happy days! Moira
