Meadow School Ninfield

I also lived at Lunsford Cross when I was a child at The Corner House, just opposite where your Dad, Len lived. My Grandad was George Sutton who had the small market garden and I lived there with my grandparent, George and Win, and my parents Jean and Ray Tate. My mum was George and Wins only daughter. I have very happy memories of my childhood there and I definitely remember your Dad and a little of you as you were a couple of years older than me. I would live to share memories of those days with someone else who lived there. I have started to write some of my memories of childhood to give my children and grandchildren, so would love some extra details and to share my memories. My parents live at Lunsford cross until my dad died about 12 years ago and mum now lives in Suffolk near my brother Gary. Although aome of my family still live in Hastings, I am now living on Hayling Island near Portsmouth. I'd love to hear what you remember about Lundaford Cross and life in Ninfield. I remember the day you were born. We were four girls - Myra Roberts, Virginia Mitchell, Sheila Ford and me (all born in 1943)- watching from outside Corner House waiting for you to arrive and then you were held up at the window for us to see. In 1953 your pram was transformed into the coronation coach and Mr Muggeridge made four hobby horses for us girls and we were dressed up as coachmen as if pulling the coach and walked from Lunsford Cross to Ninfield for the Carnival and won 1st prize. I have a photo of this. I also remember your brother Gary and what a good swimmer he was. There are so many memories of living at Lunsford Cross we could chat for a week!! e.mail: maggielaing@aol.com
