Benson Lane
A Memory of Normanton.
We lived in the last house at the bottom of benson Lane, next to the fields, great memory's, attended normanton infants school and normanton Common, my brother Frank went to normanton grammar school. Remember living in the back to back terraces, the outside toilets at home and at the school. Playing in the fields next to our house, also playing in haw Hill Park, lots of times, my sister wendy falling in the pond one day and walking home with her afterwards. Learning to swim in normanton baths. Going to the corner shop on benson Lane and buying sweets 4 for a penny. Moving to Leeds with my family, when I was 9, the house was compulsory purchased due to the motorway, I believe. Think there's a childrens home now where our house was. Great memory's of Normanton lovely people.
