More about this scene
In the centre of the town is the 1728 brick-built Old Town Hall, with an open arcaded ground floor. The slate lantern, part of the adjoining clock tower, dates from 1811, and gives the whole structure a jaunty air. The scene is familiar today, although the traffic has changed.
