Larner And Mustoe Families

A Memory of Northleach.

I am very interested in Northleach because my family connections, the Mustoes and Larners, go back several hundred years there and certainly in the case of the Larners back to the 1600's.
Both families were shepherds and agricultural labourers. This was a very close knit community and as an example of that my great grandparents, Thomas Larner and Elizabeth Mustoe were first cousins. (Her father and his mother were brother and sister).
As further evidence of the closeness of this community I am particularly interested in 1he 1870s because, according to the 1871 census around 25 members of my ancestor families were living cheek by jowel in the same street ,Mill End, The picture of the mill pond is particularly relevant to me because on September 13th 1872 the nearby mill, in which the mill owner had installed a new steam boiler, was severely damaged when the boiler blew up with such ferocity that it blew the roof off.
The Miller (William Peart) was killed along with a baby laying in its pram in the street (Mill End) when it was hit by debris from the mill that landed in the pram. That child was Thomas Larner, son of Stephen and Elizabeth Larner my great great grandparents.
My great grandfather was born a year later and was named in honour of his dead brother.
I am keen to find out anything I can about that incident and also to identify exactly where the Mill was sited so that when i visit in the town in a few weeks I can better picture the events of that day. If anyone can offer any assistance at all I should be most grateful.
