More about this scene

People lived and traded on Bond Gate until 1969. Now, together with Bond Street, it is a dispiriting introduction to Nuneaton for those of us who arrive by train. All these buildings have been swept away, and replaced by a dire hotchpotch of modern horrors overlooking endless traffic. The buses now leave from an ugly new station round the corner, with a footbridge providing pedestrian access from Bond Gate.

George Eliot's Childhood Home
Griffiths House Hotel was the home of Mary Ann Evans,(George Eliot) She based inher writings on life in Nuneaton. If you know the area well and then read her books you can relate to Nuneaton quite easily. The Work House or the College as it was known, was part of the George Eliot Hospital in College Street. Nuneaton Train Crash 1975
The rail crash at Nuneaton on 6th June 1975 - personally I cannot remember this but many townsfolk do and this year is the 40th anniversary of that terrible incident. For photo see this page on our blog https://nuneatonmemories.wordpress.com/2015/03/19/nuneaton-train-crash-1975/

Train Crash At Nuneaton Trent Valley ?1973
My brother was a firefighter at the time and attended this tragic incident has anyone personal memories off this ? I am looking for photos off said incident as well? J Perrin

The Weekend
I remember calling for my friend Josie who lived in Princes street.We would walk down coton road towards the town and go in a chip shop there.We would sit in the small room at the back and order a plate of chips smothered in mushy peas.This would cost us ninepence.I loved Nuneaton in the sixties.We'd have a walk round town,maybe pop in Smiths and look at the shift dresses with their hipster belts,or cross the road to wh ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
