More about this scene

The building on the right is the Manor House. Built in 1704, it has two slightly projecting wings with plain tiled hipped roofs, and the wooden eaves cornices are decorated with modillions in the classical style. Some work is being carried out to the walls of the gateway, and there is a pony and trap waiting patiently beside the house on the corner.
