Childhood Memories
A Memory of Old Scales.
My parents married in 1966 at St Marys Church Ulverston, after getting married they rented a property from friends of my Grandparents , the property was called Rose Cottage , I was born in 1967 and lived at Rose Cottage until 1971. I vaguely remember the interior of the cottage , I remember the small living room and the kitchen looked right out onto the fields , they were practically our back garden with only a fence separating us from the cows that used to come right upto the fence, the cottage at the time never had a bathroom so we had to go to my grandparents for a weekly bath , I remember going to the farm and playing in the hen hut , i dont remember other children being in the village . I remember many years later my grandmother telling me that Rose Cottage and the cottage next door were eventually knocked into one house , as a child I remember running up and down the long stretch of lawn that was the length of Rose Cottage and the one next door. I know Rose Cottage is a very old house but I would love to know when it was built and its history , I do family history and I'm also very interested in old buildings especially ones like Rose Cottage , I have nothing but happy memories of my early childhood living in scales , and when on occasions I've driven though scales , I get my daughter to stop outside Rose Cottage and remember the happy memories I have of living there
