A Selection of Memories from Oldbury

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Oldbury

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

My father and all his brothers worked on the Tarboats for many years duringWW11 . It would be great if anyone could supply any info as the families have little on them . Many thanks
i was born at Thomas Clayton boatyard on the Gifford where mary white raised me until i was old enough to be on my dad's boat at the age of seven i can just remember walking the horse from the stable at 2oclock in the morning and George jumping out from behind the shed door he frightened me to death
This is actually High St., Langley...my father's shop, R. Chilton, Watch Repairer and jeweller, is visible on the right hand side of the road. We left in 1972, and the house was demolished. A chapel now stands where it stood. Thank you for this information - I have forwarded your comments to our archivist to confirm and then update our archive. Ed.
