More about this scene

Ollerton village was at the crossroads of three major routes, and its inns catered for the coaching trade, but now, mercifully, it is by-passed and tranquil. New Ollerton immediately north-east is a large mining village that grew up around Thoresby Colliery. Old Ollerton's church was rebuilt in 1780 in Gothic style; it is now more visible, as two of the trees have since gone. The churchyard wall has also been repaired and partly rebuilt.
