Ottery St Mary, Broad Street 1938

More about this scene
Broad Street hints at Ottery's original Saxon street layout. To the left is the confectionary shop of H Bovett; then comes the Volunteer Inn, and in the distance the premises of the East Devon Motor Company - unchanged in use today, for it is still a garage. In the centre of Broad Street is Granger's Stores. In 1938 the proprietor was W D McClymont.
