The steep road leading down to the bridge over the River Don at Oughtibridge, north of Sheffield, leads the eye to the steel works across the river. Opposite the Cock Inn (left) stands the tiny village Post Office, with a pensioner eyeing the photographer suspiciously.

I think you will find that the steel works were the Oughtibridge Silica Firebrick Company.
The so called pensioner in the photo was Oughtibridge post master for 37 years and he is outside the post office.
The person referred to as a pensioner in the photo is my grandad Percy Sensicall and he was the postmaster at Oughtibridge Post Office. I think the date could be a little earlier though.
