In 1541 a large manor house was constructed within the remnants of the old castle. It even incorporated a part of the curtain wall, gatehouse and great tower. Above the gate can be seen the arms of Sir Rhys Mansell (1487-1559), who by the reign of Queen Mary had become one of Glamorgan's chief landowners.

Mrs Cobb from Bedford would bring children for a weeks holiday during the summer holidays. They stayed in a large white building on a corner (there was a dairy farm across the road), it was like a community hall, maybe it was used by the Brownies or something! It was walking distance to the beach. They would walk along a long lane down to the beach. I am not 100% sure of the details but if anyone has any memories of this or information I would be grateful, thanks.
My Aunty Evelyn ran the post office in Oxwich for many years. There was a huge orchard attached to the post office. Upon retirement, she had the bungalow built next door and lived there until her death. As a young boy, I lived in the coastguard cottages nearby, before my father Frank Bevan, was posted to Flamborough Head in the Coastguard service.
