The corner shop on the immediate left distinguishes Llando Terrace. From the partial billboard on the gable end, it was obviously a retailer of the News of the World, which at this date, it may be interesting to recall, was a working class but quite serious broadsheet, and not the sensational tabloid of today.

Really enjoying looking at the pictures of pembrey, so many memories.
The comment regarding the ‘big house’ on the left at rear of the picture was Lewis’s shop , my grandmother. In earlier times the family , myself include, lived in the shop. Before my time there was a hot water heated glasshouse as well as a bakery in the huge garden at the back. So a typical one stop village shop. As the family moved on to ...see more
The shop in the photo is that of Mrs Capron, the Large house in the background is Mrs John's shop. I have many memories of buying sweets from these shops. I used to play football on the green opposite Caprons shop. Just beyond Mrs John's shop was the entrance to the Pembrey rugby field, which the Dungeon Farm owned; before each match the team would go round clearing the pitch of cow pats. The field is now full of council houses called Waun Cidan.
