More about this scene
The oldest building in the area is Pembrey Church, St Illtyd's. The tower is Norman and the roof 16th-century. Here there is a monument to a French soldier, Colonel Coquilin, and his daughter Adeline. They were drowned when their ship, the 'Jenne Emma', struck the Cefn Sidan sands. The inscription states that Adeline was 'the niece of Josephine, consort to the renowned individual Napoleon Bonaparte'.
