My Ancestral Ties To Pembroke

A Memory of Pembroke.

Greetings from Canada. Although I have never visited England I have long had a great admiration of Wales. My Great Grandfather who was born in London in 1835 of Welsh parents wrote many notations in margins of a Family Bible of stories handed down of related families who dwelt in Pembroke, way back to 1700's. The "s" in my surname, Johns, was added on by an ancestor in late 1700's, prior to this it was John.
One of those notations mentions "grandfather Richard Lang of Woodhouse Farm having a stone pulpit erected on his property in which any clergyman or preacher was asked to conduct religious services or if none present the Dame would do so. Both the Wesleys, Whicliffe, R.Hill, and others made Farmer Lang's a place of regular call".
I have been able in my research to go back to a Gelly John, a Blacksmith of Pembroke in 1750's - he wed Margaret Evans at St. Mary's in 1760. Among their children was a Mark John who wed Lucy Lang at St. Marys 1791. A sister to Lucy was Margaret Lang who wed an Edward Phillips at St. Marys in 1788.
I had great fortune to come across a Last will and testament if Richard Lang in which he gives a lot of information. I would very much like to correspond with parties who share a similar interest.
Regards Edgar
