More about this scene
Without doubt, Pembroke is one of the most impressive defended sites in Wales. The first castle was built by Roger de Montgomery and his son, possibly on the site of a native Welsh fortification or fortified settlement. In this view, the castle is behind us. The tower of St Mary's Church rises over the rooftops to the left of the picture. The portico of the Lion Hotel is seen on the right.
